Experienced Maintenance Technician (Boat Fleet)

Le Boat, part of the Travelopia group, offers self-drive boating holidays on inland waterways across Europe and Canada. It is looking for an experienced technician to maintain and prepare its charter fleet at its base in Vinkeveen, in the Utrecht region of the Netherlands. The post is permanent and full-time, starting as soon as possible.

The role:

• Carry out technical work on pumps, batteries, diesel engines, and electrical and hydraulic systems
• Install electrical and mechanical equipment and make small cosmetic fibreglass repairs
• Keep the fleet presentable and reliable, following the maintenance schedule required by manufacturer warranties
• Manage the spare parts stock
• Haul, launch, commission and decommission boats, and run fuel dock tasks such as fuelling and pumping out holding tanks
• Brief customers and give handover tuition, including passing through a lock where needed
• Support guests during their cruise with technical help, breakdown call outs and local advice
• Travel in company vehicles for emergency repairs, with an out-of-hours call-out rota in season

• Proven years of experience as a technician or mechanic in the marine, boating or car industry
• Experience with electrical, mechanical and plumbing repairs
• Knowledge of marine diesel engines (Nanni engines an advantage)
• Certificate from a marine college or equivalent (an advantage)
• Ability to read specifications and installation instructions
• Fluent English or Dutch; French or German beneficial
• Valid driving licence and driving experience
• Relevant boating experience and a passion for boating
• Living within commutable distance
• Eligible to work in the Netherlands
