Marine Technician
About this role
The Marine Technician is a versatile & practical role that will be part of a team responsible for the smooth running of the Marine Department as well as being a key support role for the Marine Manager. The role will entail supporting the club activity and major sailing events, ensuring the club equipment is in full working order. You will also assist race teams and instructors in the launching and recovery of boats. You will be involved in the ongoing maintenance of Club Equipment including the need to use power tools and chemicals. You will complete plant machinery and engine maintenance. When working you will be expected to undertake some heavy physical work. Training to drive plant machinery will be provided. Flexible and weekend working are part of the role. You will need a high attention to detail and be able to problem solve and priorities task. Main Responsibilities
- To help HISC members as required.
- To keep the Rescue, Committee and Ferry boats fuelled, clean and up to full inventory.
- To complete maintenance programmes for all the sailing club’s boats including GRP work,
inboard and outboard engine maintenance, woodwork and 12-volt electrics
- To complete maintenance to plant machinery
- To rig, launch and pack away hire boats/boards from the HISC hire fleet.
- To help with the winter layup and launch of yachts, committee boats and ferry
- To support race events with the correct equipment e.g. race marks, flags.
- Assist with the running of the ferryboat and other boat driving duties.
- To drive club plant machinery to complete launch and recovery operations.
- Complete maintenance checks, fill in maintenance logs in line with the club policy.
- Assist with Boat Park / Sinbin processes and maintenance.
- To maintain clean and safe working areas, inside the boat shed and the yard.
