Marine Service Technician

Chesapeake Yacht & Property Management is a small, specialised marine service company in Chestertown, focused on high-quality workmanship and client service. It is looking for a versatile Marine Service Technician to troubleshoot, install and repair a wide range of marine systems. This is not an engine mechanic role, but a hands-on position across electrical, plumbing, mechanical and onboard instrument systems.

The role:

• Diagnose, troubleshoot and repair electrical, mechanical, plumbing and onboard instrument systems
• Install and service marine electronics such as GPS, sonar, lighting and battery systems, including 12V and 24V systems
• Carry out system upgrades, retrofits and custom installations
• Read and interpret wiring diagrams and technical documentation
• Keep workspaces clean, organised and professional
• Update management and clients on findings, timelines and recommendations, and follow up to ensure satisfaction
• Document work thoroughly and accurately
• Spot potential issues before they become problems

• 2+ years of marine or related mechanical/electrical experience preferred
• Solid understanding of 12V/24V electrical systems
• Familiarity with pumps, steering systems, battery systems and marine hardware
• Experience installing marine electronics (e.g. Garmin, Simrad) is a plus
• ABYC certification is a plus but not required
• Valid driver's licence
• Strong troubleshooting skills, attention to detail and good written and verbal communication
• Able to work independently and in tight spaces and marine environments
