Cost Engineer

Damen Shiprepair Harbour & Voyage carries out ship maintenance and repair wherever the vessel is, from its base in Botlek, Rotterdam, with projects around the world. It is a small, flexible organisation with an informal working environment. As Cost Engineer you will be the financial lead within the project organisation, supporting the Project Manager from the start of a project through to final invoicing.

The role:

• Set up and maintain projects in the ERP system (IFS) and keep financial overviews up to date daily
• Collect, check and analyse cost information, and raise deviations, risks and opportunities with the Project Manager
• Analyse quotations, contracts and technical specifications
• Prepare additional and reduced work calculations and quotations
• Prepare complete, accurate final invoices and explain them to customers where needed
• Visit projects regularly to assess the work and its cost impact
• Translate technical information into clear financial consequences
• Help improve project finance and calculation processes

• Intermediate vocational (MBO+) or higher vocational (HBO) education in a financial field, such as finance or cost engineering
• Experience with or affinity for ship repair
• Strong Excel skills; knowledge of BI tools is an advantage
• Technical knowledge is welcome but training can be given
• Living in the Netherlands and fluent in Dutch; English is an advantage
• Analytical, accurate and proactive, with good communication skills under time pressure
• Flexible and comfortable in a dynamic project environment
