Naval Architect - Weight Control & Stability Support

Sunreef Yachts is looking for a Naval Architect to join its Naval Architecture Department in Ras Al Khaimah, United Arab Emirates. The role focuses on weight control, weight measurements and stability support across several yacht projects, combining office-based engineering with regular work in the shipyard.

The role:

• Prepare and maintain weight calculations, reports and weight budgets for each project.
• Track project weight against the approved lightship weight budget.
• Carry out regular weight measurements during production, including onboard inspections.
• Build and maintain a central database of equipment, materials and verified component weights.
• Gather weight information from Engineering, Production, Procurement, the Composite Department and suppliers.
• Check production against drawings, plans and composite construction details, and assess the effect of any deviations on weight, stability and performance.
• Support stability calculations, performance predictions and certification-related calculations.
• Develop procedures, templates and reporting tools for weight control on future projects.

• Bachelor's degree in Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering or a related field
• Good understanding of composite materials and yacht construction
• Strong understanding of naval architecture principles, including stability, hydrodynamics and basic structural analysis
• Experience with weight control, stability or production follow-up preferred
• Proficiency in CAD software such as AutoCAD, Rhino, SolidWorks or similar
• Strong Excel skills for calculations, tracking and reporting
• Experience with Maxsurf Stability or similar stability software
• Strong attention to detail and clear communication with technical and production teams
• Able to work independently and as part of a team, and to follow up actively with departments and suppliers
