About this role
Job specifics: The captain is the only FT crew on board. You can hire more crew as needed. Private family-owned vessel used by four family members, their spouses, and a total of five children. The boat is primarily enjoyed together for local cruising in the Miami area on weekends, as well as day and occasional overnight trips during the week and holidays. The family also travels to Bahamas approximately 2-3 times per year. Activities onboard include watersports and sea bobs use. Seeking a professional captain available five days per week, with flexibility to work on the weekends and either return home nightly or stay onboard as needed. Responsibilities include overseeing all aspects of vessel operations, managing maintenance schedules, coordinating vendors, provisioning, and ensuring overall organization. The ideal candidate will be highly safety-focused and capable of delivering a polished, white-glove level of service. Salary range: Within yachting salary guidelines depending on experience. Package: Medical coverage is provided, flights to and from the vessel, accrued paid leave, etc. are included and to be finalized during interview process.
Requirements
License Required: Master 200+ with mechanical/engineering knowledge Requirements: 3+ years on similar sized STCW+ Refresher Bonus Certificates: Adv. FF PSCRB AEC 1 and 2+ Medical Care Medical First Aid ENG1 or current fit for duty marine medical (valid for 6 months) US Passport or Green Card - valid for minimum 1 year Fluent in English The ideal captain will possess the following attributes:
- Prior experience on similar sized yachts
- Exceptional communication skills.
- Knowledge of accounting principles.
- Hands-on experience in the engine room and electronics for troubleshooting.
