Captain/Engineer & Mate/Cook Couple Team

Oyster Yachts is looking for a Captain/Engineer and Mate/Cook/All-Rounder couple team to join a superb condition Oyster 745, starting in November 2026. The yacht will make an Atlantic crossing to the Caribbean, followed by a long-term cruising programme.

The owner and his son will be aboard for their first transatlantic crossing. Over the next two years the aim is to help the owner become captain of his own yacht, with the long-term goal of entering the Oyster World Rally 2030. Owner use is expected to be fairly light in the 26/27 Caribbean season, with possible charter activity in the winter months (to be confirmed).

The role:

• Captain/Engineer: manage all aspects of yacht operations, maintenance and passage planning
• Captain/Engineer: maintain the yacht's systems and encourage the owning family to learn about sailing and systems management
• Mate/Cook/All-Rounder: assist across all areas of yacht operations, with a flexible, hands-on approach
• Mate/Cook/All-Rounder: provision the yacht and prepare meals for the owners and guests when required
• Keep watch and sail the yacht as part of a close crew team

This is not a dedicated chef role, as the owners also enjoy cooking.

Captain/Engineer:

• STCW
• ENG1
• Yachtmaster Ocean
• AEC 1 & 2 preferred, or strong practical engineering skills
• Previous charter experience advantageous
• Confident overseeing yacht operations, maintenance and passage planning

Mate/Cook/All-Rounder:

• STCW
• ENG1
• Yachtmaster qualified
• Confident provisioning and preparing meals when required
• Happy to work alongside owners who also enjoy cooking
• Strong sailing experience and watchkeeping skills
