Freelance Skippers and Mates

Tall Ships Youth Trust is a charity that gives young people aged 12 to 25 experiences at sea and helps them overcome the barriers they face. It is looking for freelance Skippers and Mates to work on its Challenger and ketch vessels.

The role:

• Skipper or mate one of the Trust's Challenger or ketch vessels
• Work with young people from diverse backgrounds
• Keep safety and standards aboard maintained
• Communicate clearly and act with tact and diplomacy

What's on offer:

• Practical and online training for successful applicants

• Yachtmaster Offshore with Commercial Endorsement
• ENG1 (preferred) or ML5
• RYA First Aid (with Cat C) or similar MCA-approved first aid
• VHF radio licence
• Ability to work with young people from diverse backgrounds
• Good communication skills
• Completion of an application form including a DBS check
