Sailing Camp Director

Miles River Yacht Club in Saint Michaels, Maryland, is looking for a Director to lead its junior sailing camp in summer 2027. The camp runs for eight weeks from 21 June to 13 August, with around 70 students a week aged 6 to 17, 50 club-owned boats and 15 instructors, making it one of the larger sailing programmes on the Chesapeake Bay.

The role:

• Hire, train and manage a team of 15 instructors
• Develop curriculum and lesson plans with the instructors
• Make sure students are progressing towards their goals
• Keep parents informed about milestones
• Maintain powerboats, sailboats and other equipment
• Organise regatta entries, logistics and travel
• Run morning staff meetings to prepare the coaches
• Resolve coaching or class issues and oversee preparation and breakdown weeks

• US Sailing Level 1 Instructor Certification
• Experience in junior and collegiate sailing
• Has taught beginners through to advanced racers
• Familiarity with racing and enjoys working with young sailors
• First Aid and CPR certification
• Must pass a background screening and drug test
• Available from 1 June until 14 August
